Losksmithing - key depths...?

Question

I am curious about to how many depths keys are cut.
Anybody out there know?

Schlage -
Kwikset -
Master padlock - 4 pin -
Master padlock - 5 pin -
Medeco -
any other locks you know about... :)

Kwikset has 6 depths. Sorry I don't know about the others.

Hi, I guess I don't really understand your question. The depths can only be as deep as the longest pin available. But the pins can be filed to fit the cut of the key. So, if you only have five number six pins, they can be filed down to fit the cut of the key,but you don't want to cut the key any deeper because longer pins aren't available. Now if you want to know how many keys are cut each day to fit those locks, I'd say billions and billions! Now ,what about Master keying, or Grand Master Keying? Another Day perhaps. Bye
