That is because you are loking for the wrong kind of auditions. There are no open auditions for speaking roles in movies and tv shows or for commercials, not in Memphis, not anywhere. They are a figment of the starry-eyed teen bopper's mind. Serious actors know that the only open auditions in any city are for amature and sometimes semi-profeessional theatre. These are often in the newspapers.

look for a local trade paper perhaps backstage has a local memphis section. I do not think you will find much acting in memphis. If you are looking for musical auditions check out the local music stores (instrument not cd)

What theaterdoc said. There's almost no professional acting work where you live. You're looking for something that isn't there. Just act in school and try to find a kid's theater group.
