I have some plastic seats from an old football ground and I want to put them in my garden. However some are covered in limescale from years of being only partially covered. I have tried every limescale removing product I can find from Viakal to a very strong liquid I bought from Screwfix but nothing will shift it. I tried scraping and that shifts it a bit but I ruined one of the seats that way. I can't think of anything else that will get rid of the stuff. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hot white vinegar is great!

Put cloth or cotton batting on the chairs first. then pour on the vinegar, letting the cloth soak it up. Let the solution sit for about an hour. Then check the progress. Let it set longer if needed, then remove the cloth and hose down the seats.

Krylon now makes a paint in spray cans especially for plastic. Sand the chairs to scuff them up a little and spray the paint on. The sanding helps give the paint something to hold on to.

Try a product called CLR - Calcium Lime and Rust Remover. It comes in a green bottle with a black cap.

Try putting some white vinegar on it and leaving it overnight. Don't heat the vinegar. White vinegar gives off a poisonous gas when it is heated.

If Viakal won't shift it then it's more likely to be cement or concrete and not limescale.
