You will need two partitions then (C: and D:). You can install one in C: and the other in D:. They will have different registry entries, so if you do something in the one that is installed in C:, it should not be reflected in the one that is installed in D:. I used to have windows XP and Windows 98 back in year 2002, because Windows XP compatibility was rather poor but it looked nicer and ran applications much faster. It should not cause you any problems. It is possible to cause conflicts if you mix programs, for instance you install under C: a program that was installed while running the OS under D:.
I am not sure if you can install Windows And Linux without having problems. My friends say you can.
Using two different copies of Windows XP sounds a lot more useful than just having two sessions under the same copy of windows xp.

as long as the programs are on different physical drives or different partitions of the same drive, you shouldn't have problems, although i can't imagine why you'd want to have two copies of the same OS on one computer. you can just create different user accounts on a single copy of XP if you want the computer to be used by more than one person, each with his own personal settings and private files.

Yes you can, but you may get confused which is which unless you give them different names.

Why not just setup two profiles? It would be easier and more cost effective than two copies of XP.

Good Luck

The only problems being, Microsoft doesn't allow it.
Better to create a new user.
