Are US Voters allowing this issue to become either Universal Health Care or NOTHING?

That's what this seems like to me, we are going to end up with this issue being about only Universal Health Care and at the end of the day nothing is going to be accomplised.

at the very least I would want some kind of anti trust action to increase competition in the health care industry

we also need to eliminate the cozy relationship between the FDA and the pharmaceutical companies

those are just two off the top of my head

The whole issue is blown way out of proportion. Here are some facts that a lot of people are not aware of. With a population of over 300 million only 45 million are not covered by private insurance or government program. Of these 45 million 16.7 million are in households earning over 50k per year. 15 million are eligible for Government programs but are not enrolled. 9 million are not citizens. That leaves 4 million in the category of "other". Many of these are young people in entry level jobs who would rather spend their money on other things since few have any health issues.

So the actual problem is not as serious as we are being lead to believe.

Unfortunately, that is the nature of a vote. You can vote "yes" or "no" but not "I'd like a third option."

I agree that some sort of compromise might be in our best interests. However the current administration is opposed to ANY expansion of government-funded healthcare (and will veto to prove it), so we'll probably have to wait to a while.

What alternatives have you or anyone else offered? I am sure if you have an alternative and you typed it up in a manner which is easy to understand and sent it to your reps. in DC they might consider it. That wouldn't be the first time something like that happened. Go for it.
