New laptop (vista) freezes within a minute of opening internet only in school; problem does not occur at home.

Has a proper natwork connection been creared for connection to your school LAN?

You may have to have the schools IT department setup annetwork connection on your computer.

Some schools do not allow person computer to be connected to their system unless it has been purchased through school and set up by the school's IT department.

might just be the internet if your school has macs maybe it only connects to macs
