Something light should be OK. The issue with eating in labour is in case of emergency surgery with a general anaesthetic, when there might be a slight risk of inhaling stomach contents. For low-risk women anticipating a normal labour a snack isn't a problem (although it might bounce back up again later when the hormones really get going - were you sicky in previous labours?).
Good luck!

Eat all you like as once you are in labour they normally dont give you anything .. I was starving during labour and couldnt have anything when the baby was born i made my mum go to maccas !!!!
Eating doesn't really have anything to do with early labour ..
Id be eating all you can incase anything comes up in labour and then your really gunna be hungry if you haven't ate before !
Good Luck to you

Having three myself i would say it depends....technically they say you can , i had breakfast a 2 hours before my induction , given it was only a 40 minute birth from start to finish, that would be the equivalent...lol im told its ok but there is more chance of being sick or as you may well be aware it may come out when you least expect it, also some hospitals have funny rules about that they would allow my sister in law to touch a thing , i would say , listen to your body you know best if you feel hungary have a light snack like wholemeal toast or something that will release energy slowly as you do need to keep your energy up ,perhaps if you feel apprehensive try something like lucozade sport or any other isotonic drink, do what you feel if you dont feel hungary , dont eat just cos its your supper time , it coul dbe your body telling you something, just listen to what your body is telling you and go with the flow....oh and good luck with your imminent delivery

There is generally no reason why you cannot eat throughout your whole labour. Women used to be told not to eat in case they had to have a c-section, because they uesd to be done under anaesthetic.
But they are now rarely done under anaesthetic, and are usually done with an epidural.
Therefore, there is no reason why you cannot eat. In fact you should, to keep your energy up.
I had a home birth and when the midwife arrived one of the first things she did was make sure that I had eaten recently, and I was 9.5cm at the time!
Good luck with your baby.

You can eat during early labour, infact you really should to boost your energy levels. When I was in labour the hospital gave me a sandwich as I was really hungry. Take snacks to the hospital like sandwiches, biscuits. Don't really worry about sugar content as you will burn off the energy when you go into active labour!

Yes, you must eat as you will need all your strength for the labour!! I was induced on hormone drip which was totally unexpected when i went for check up. (Due to high blood pressure and i'd already been in slow labour for some time) I'd had no breakfast as thought i was going back home so was starving! Midwives gave me toast and tea and my hubby brought some choccy! The chocolate certainly helped when the contractions started getting stronger!

i was told that it was a good idea to eat something in the early stages of labour to help keep your strength up as it could be a while before you want to eat again, dont eat anything that is to heavy try and have something light but slow release energy food. good luck.

i would advise eating something light just to keep your energy levels up. hope all goes well best of luck!
