There aren't many hospitals left that have much of a nursery. Healthy babies and Moms are encouraged to room together so they can bond and the Mom can get comfortable caring for her new baby with nurses available for support.

Those infants that are in the nursery are usually there for medical reasons and that requires an RN.

You need to go to school for nursing. You will probably want to go for RN as I am not sure of any hospitals that still have LPN's in the nursery.

You will have to go for your RN or BSN,which is registered nurse.
