You heard about the 9/11 attacks?

I liken it to when people ask- "Where were you when you heard JFK had died?" or when John Lennon was killed.

I was at work (a school) & saw a few teachers whispering in the hall & holding their mouths & looking very distressed.
I got up & asked what the trouble was & they told me. They kept it from the kids & the principal came on the pa system telling all teachers to shut off all computers.

A bit later, I went to the basement & all the custodians were watching it on tv.

They dismissed the kids early that day.....

I was getting up for work. The tv was on and one of my roommates was watching CNN which was very odd, he worked earlier than I did, and he had a look that can easily be explained knowing what happened. The office I work at got closed for the day and I watched the same cycle of tv all day, just glued. Trying to wrap my brain around it.

I guess it's pretty easy to remember, since I was just getting up at home, but I definitely won't forget it. It was an incredibly surreal day.

I was 11 at the time. My Mum came and picked up me and my brother from school (I think it was lunchtime where I am when it happened.) and there was something on the radio about it. I wasn't really sure what was happening until I got home and saw it on the news. It was really frightening.

In a way, 7/7 was even worse because I was old enough to understand what was going on and it was a lot closer to home, but I still can't watch or read anything about 9/11 without crying. It really doesn't feel like it's been six years.

I was at home getting ready for my first day at a new job when I got the shocking phone call from my mother. I had to quickly turn on the TV to see what was going on....that's when I saw the second plane plow through the other tower. Needless to say that I didn't get trained much at work that day and was sent home early. Nearly my whole town was shut down that day. I was 22 at the time. It's been 6 years since this happen, but it feels like yesterday. That memory will stay with me for the rest of my life.

At work. I worked in an office that had a customer waiting area with a TV. My co-worker was leaving when she came back in and said "Hey, I gotta go. There's a fire at the WTC - can you watch & call me with the story details?"

I walked out to the waiting area, curious - just in time to see the second plane.

I spent the rest of the day in front of that TV.

I knew exactly what this question was going to be after the first four words. It was a sunny day in the Chicago area, about 7:30 AM local time. I was on my way to work, listening to WXRT in my car. The news cut in mid-song, so I knew it was something big. That was after the first tower was hit.

I was on my way to class at Boston University, stuck underground somewhere between Park St. and Haymarket (Fanuel Hall MarketPlace). I heard it from one of the T workers. After that I was stuck in trying to get home for hours.

I had got off a plane the same day & was in a motel room in Texas. I was watching movie channel & changed it. The first thing I saw was the planes crashing into the towers. I thought it was a movie.

I was in college - 2nd day of term. The door to the tutors office was open, and they had the live coverage up on the internet.

One of my tutors mentioned she knew someone in the area, and was worried about her. She found out that afternoon that her friend was ok.
