Thank him for offering you the opportunity but tell him you just aren't able to accept at this time. Don't give any more details - you don't owe him an explanation, even if he pushes.

This is a tough question! First off, if you are selling a service and something legit, I don't think it is a scam or he might have already been out of a job. This would have been ideal for me when I use to be in the corporate world because there's nothing better than making money 5 days a week and getting a paycheck, then earning commission or what ever on th side business while you are on the company time. It is kind of bad that he is using the contacts from the daytime job for his side business, this is kind of sneaky. But, it must work for your boss. If your truly not interested then I would just say no and like the other answer, you don't owe him anything more than that. If he fires you then you have a good case to get unemployment for a while, I hate to say. If you need to make extra cash, then try it out and see how you like it. It's funny but the people I get into my home business are true genuine people that are stuck in a rut and they are truly looking for a way to supplement their income. So in regards to the payday loan people, you never know if it is something that they need, plus if the company is legit and you see an opportunity, why not try it on your own time. Good Luck! Jennifer

The love of money is blah blah blah, My co-worker tried to do the same thing to me, one scheme after another, and each one is suppose to make you filthy rich, big home, Mercedes in the drive... You would think they would learn from the last flop. If you have an opportunity of a life time, but you have to recruit 6 other people to make it work ...RUN!! I tell them that I will have to pray about it before I can make a decision that big, and then if I don't want to do it, I just say I don't feel led to join but I hope it is a success for you - works every-time. :)

Most bosses are! What he is offering you is not a pyramid scheme, he just doesn't understand how he should operate his business. Those people borrowing money need education about how to handle money and themselves. Don't be afraid to say "hell, no" and find another job if you are uncomfortable working for this person.

They probably are smarter in which case they're trying to trick you. Somehow it might mean more money for them in the long run...
Just say you don't think it would suit you very much and you're happy where you are. It should work.

I would just say that you are not into selling things in general.
Giving a reason that is generic and not specifically against him should allow you to avoid any wrath from your boss.

Politely decline. Just say you are not interested. That should do it.
