As I read the replies on the board I am sadly aware of the incredible ignorance of many .

First and foremost lets get rid of a MYTH that Americans use to justify/rationalize their atrocities in the world all in pursuit of what they call their NATIONAL INTERESTS .

The US HAS NEVER BEEN, IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE PRIMARILY A BEACON FOR DEMOCRACY LIBERTY AND FREEDOM PERIOD.

The US is PRIMAILY a beacon for AMERICAN STYLE CAPITALISM PERIOD.

Let the ignoramuses here do some learning. Read this which is totally verifiable.

http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/CIAtimeline.html

THe US has DESTROYED DEMOCRACY FREEDOM AND LIBERTY in at least 14 countries since 1950 and these include high profile ones like Iran in 1953 and Chile in 1973 .

All of these democracies were destroyed by the US purely for PROFITS/MONEY PERIOD.

Bad enough the US destroyed these democracies but in each and every case they replaced the democracy and freedom with vile murderous dictators such as the Shah of Iran and a.Pinochet of Chile who was charged with crimes against humanity .

In all these cases of course the US fully supported these vile bastards as they slaughtered all citizens who dared try and resurrect their democracies and freedoms.

THIS IS WHAT THE US DOES AS EVIDENCED IN THE HISTORIC RECORD.

In supporting all these murderous despots ,all the peoples of these countries know full well who is supporting their vile despotic leaders and are and will hold the US fully accountable for all the atrocities these US backed bastards do.

Now to the Middle East. The US's history in the Middle East since post WW1 has been to use and abuse and violate the countries and the peoples of the Middle East (except Israel of course) .The US carved up the region after WW1 based solely on dividing up the oil resourses between thec allies irrespective of cultures, peoples etc .The result was gerrymandered countries like Iraq,Jordan ,Saudi Arabia, etc.

Because evolution into democracy is a messy business (as the US history attest to) the US has always preferred to have ruthless murderous despots in power in the region so that the region is kept relatively stable ,ALL FOR OIL .

IT IS ALL ABOUT OIL and only OIL and profits.

It has nothing to do with bringing democracy/freedom/liberty to the peoples of the Middle East.

These incredibly ignorant yahoo that spew their nonesense about Bush bringing democracy and freedom to Iraq are simply inane and irrelevant but also dangerous for they like Bush spew very dangerous LIES upon which friggin wars are based and people slaughtered.

After 9/11 and the discovery that so many Saudis were involved, the US began to realize that Saudi Arabia will one day go the same way Iran did and that is the Islamic
extremists will take over. There is probably no Muslim sect that is more extreme than the Sunni Wahhabi sect that has full control of all Saudi Arabia religious, legal cultural agenda and all experts agree that if the Wahhabis decide to overthrow the vile murderous US supported Saudi dictatorship they can do this in a heart beat.

Given this the neo-cons decided that if Saudia Arabia falls to the extremists ,they have lost Saudi oil or at least a stable relatively cheap supply of oil .

They looked at Iraq and realized that here was a plumb for the taking as Saddam was under heavy sanctions and the issue of WMDs could be used as a pretext to war against Iraq. .They would invade and control Iraq by gerrymandering a friendly government and with their vast oil reserves,The US would be sitting pretty no longer so dependant on Saudi oil.

THIS IS WHY BUSH decided to war against Iraq and this is why he had to LIE about Iraq having WMDS and that Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

What has this vile evil Bush accomplished ??

He has waged an illegal war of choice all based upon a pack of filthy stinking LIES that has so far resulted in the slaughter of over 400,000 innocent Iraqi civilians .

The vile Bush and make NO mistake that is what he is ,has turned a TERRORIST FREE Iraq into a TERRORIST HAVEN/MAGNET.

The vile Bush has so riled Muslims around the world that Al Qadae's membership has sky rocketed making the whole world less safe from terrorist attacks than before 9/11 and the loved ones that have been slaughtered in terrorist attacks in Spain,England ,Bali etc can attest to how this VILE Bush has made the world less safe.

This vile Bush has permenently trashed the trust that the world once had in the US especially among the allies .

Given all these VERIFIABLE facts ,the incredibly arrogant/beligerent ignoramuses continue to spew its garbage about Iraq being all about democracy and freedom..

The 35oo plus US soldiers and the over 400,000 innocent Iraqis have DIED FOR NOTHING ,absolutely NOTHING .

Don't give me the crap that at least the war got rid of Saddam which of course is true but that which it replaced it with is much worse than Saddam .

Well, in the undeveloped world it's clear that democracy is being soundly rejected.
What the Americans attempted and succeeding in bringing was the right and ability to be a self determined society. What is left to do is to create a secure environment where the Iraqis can take the reins of their sovereignty.

As far as consolidating terror abroad: That would be consistent with why the allies never bothered to secure Iraqi borders. Leave them open and let the terrorists come.

Good strategy on it's face.

The reasons to invade were not "entirely accurate" as Mr. Bush "could have been" misinformed resulting in that he "innocently" convinced Messrs. Blair of the UK and Aznar of Spain of the necessity to invade. To get Saddam and to destroy his "arsenal of mass destruction weapons" were the prime motives given. Not democracy necessarily. Nor the fight against terrorism, Afghanistan was their abode and the fight there continues. Saddam was apprehended, judged and executed. The people of Iraq may be ready for democracy in about a thousand years from now assuming that the fundamentalists slowly pass away (name one Arab democracy). Bush once said, in other words, "but he (Saddam) tried to kill my dad". Maybe that's the reason.

Neither. The coalition invaded to get rid of a savage and brutal dictator and to bring freedom to the people of Iraq. There was no requirement that Iraq form a democracy, just that the people be free to choose.
I would rather our military fight muslim crazies in Iraq than wait for something to blow up in my home town, then wait for the FBI to figure out who did it.

Incredibly inconsistent views. But yes, both are applicable when listening to Bush's speeches.

I find it very unChristian-like that Bush would want to use some innocent civilian's home as a battlefield. But then again, Bush seems to be a CINO (christian in name only).

Either way, Iraq is now democratic and terrorists haven't led a successful attack on our own soil since 9/11. So no, I'd have to say that the goals were VERY consistent, since both are obviously happening as we speak. Duh.

At this point in time it seems to be a battlefield created to fight the war on terror.
Too bad the iraqi people did not have a say in this. My gut feeling is they would not have chosen this.

to get GWB "the war president" re-elected to a second term

and really what kind of American could support #2, making ourselves safer while tens of thousands of Iraqis get killed, blown up, beheaded in the cross fire, that is truly disgusting
