Don't get me wrong because I am all against animal cruelty to the fullest and what he did was very wrong. Of course he has to suffer the consequences to his actions, but there are a lot of people who have done worse to animals themselves, some of them I have saw with my own eyes, but way beyond my control. I don't hate Micheal Vick at all but I still am against what he has done, but I just think that people need to give him a break and it may sound silly to some, but I also feel that they aren't just putting so much pressure on him because of the dog fighting........

I also feel that this experience could have a postive outcome, because it can show people how serious the law is about animal cruelty, because there are alot of people were i am from who let dogs fight right outside in the front where everyone can see them fight. This could be a good rude awakening for not just Michael Vick, but for a lot of others!

Are you sure you've seen worse animal cruelty than what Vick has done. Because if you have you are either desensitized or you may need therapy. Vick's gang of dog mutilators would comb the neighborhoods for dogs to practice with. They would kidnap the dog (maybe your dog), break it's hip or tape it's mouth shut and throw it into the ring so that the fighting dogs could practice ripping dogs to shreds.

Please, don't stick up for this despicable excuse for a human being. He is one of the worst type of criminals on Earth and should not ever see the light of day again, much less, play any type of sport, not even in prison. Please do some research and find yourself a real hero. I'm ashamed to give Vick even this much thought.

Nope. He is getting sentenced (probably) at the low side of the Federal minimum for his Felony........its a better deal than you or I would get.

I have already ansswered this very question more times than I can count. So for a deeper answer hare is a link.

It has well over 100 Vick related answers in ther as well as links from respected journalists such as Jemele Hill. It might take a little sorting, for which I apologize, but this question gets asked far too often.

Simply put neither you nor I would get off as lightly as he likely will, and the "lost" money on contract and endorsments were not his yet. By violating his employers code of conduct, he lost any right to that money, and since he was involved in such conduct his entire NFL career, he earned his signing bonus on a false premise.

It is not a race thing, but the fact the many people are outraged that he could be so nonchalantly sadistic. In his apologies, he never once mentioned feeling bad for what he did to the dogs. And it was no mistake. He willingly mutilated, and tortured animals for his own amusement for at least 6 years. That, my friend is a depraved mind? If he wasn't famous, how would you feel about him, if say, he was your WHITE neighbor and you caught him torturing cats and dogs, for YEARS, just for fun? You gonna tell me you wouldn't call the cops? That you wouldn't want to have the sicko removed from your neighborhood? What is the matter with you? ( you my friend need to reasses your values, because that is disgusting)Lets not have a double standard, just because Vick formerly was a face off the Black community. He betrayed that trust, not anyone else, and the saddest part is how many people still want to embrace him.

*and to the people ttying to compare this to Leonard Little or even Ray Lewis, and call it a double standard....you seem to forget that they commitedtheir crimes under a different Commish. He does not legally have the ability to retroactively punish players foir past crimes (even in court there is the double jeopardy law), but if you look at how Goodell has acted in the year he has been in charge, you can rest assured that neither would be playing in the NFL today.

And while sad, Little DUI was a 1 time thing. Was it a horrible thing? Yes, should he have been punished more harshly? Absolutely. But you cannot compare a onetime, horrible decision, with someone knowingly committing a felony for 6 years. And did Little get into his car and go lloking for someone to run into? No, you see, that is another difference....What Vick did was pre-meditated. If he had only done it once, or been around it for a very brief time, you could call it a mistake, or poor judgement. But it wasn't once. And the 6-8 dogs are the only ones he has admitted to.

He has shown himself to be without remorse, over anyhting other then being caught, and messing up his public image. nothing more. Let him get to understand the other side of fame now.

Guess what? Manson knows murder is wrong ( and hey he never actually killed anyone himself) .... so I guess we should let him out of prison now?

Look, He killed dogs and made money from that. I am getting sick and tired of people posting these lame questions about POOR MICHAEL VICK and the use of the race card. He will more than likely be barred for gambling. Where was all this support for Pete Rose who was not only barred for life from baseball but was is longer eligable to be inducted into the Baseball hall of fame. Where was all the compassion for the Duke Lacross team when black leaders were protesting in defense for the "alleged rape victim"

To condem someone for a crime based solely on the color of their skin is wrong but so is defending someone based solely on their skin color.

One thing I have noticed here on Yahoo answers. If a white person says throw the book at Vick for doing what he did to those poor dogs, he is accused of condemming Vick ONLY because he is black and thus is a racist. I am an animal lover and I dont care if the person was black, white, or what ever. If this was TOM BRADY, your Damn right I would be screaming throw the book at him, hang him, kill him and I wouldnt be shy about it.

You say you're an animal lover, If so then see the crime for what it is. Think about those dogs yelping and screaming in pain. Think about the wounds on the dogs flesh, ears half bitten off, blood all over their bodies.Think about the dogs fighting for their lives, struggling to breath as Vick holds their heads under water only because he lost a fight. Think about how terrified those poor animals where right before he snapped their necks.... and you think I should give him a break. What break did those poor dogs get, answer me that

You need to get some help before you end up in the same situation Michael Vick is in-- going to jail. If you are sitting around watching animals fight and others abused, and it doesn't occur to you that you need to report these people, then there is something very wrong with you.

If you don't care enough to do something about the animals who are suffering in your neighborhood, maybe money would motivate you. Would you like to make some money so maybe you and your family could move out of such a despicable neighborhood? If you call the Humane Society and report a dog fight, and they can get there before the fight is over, they will give you $. Sometimes the reward can get as high as $5000

I do not think that the NFL and the media are being too hard on Vick, but they are using him as a scape goat to address all of the character and legal problems that have been plaguing NFL players for the past few years.
My biggest complaint is that there is no consistency in the NFL on how players are dealt with who have broken the law. Vick gets suspended indefinitely, but a player who is convicted of assault and battery gets a three game suspension! There needs to be a whole lot more consistency in discipline in the NFL. But as long as the players are getting 6 - 7 million dollar a year contracts, that probably won't happen.

They're not being any harsher on Vick than they would be on any other person who committed the same crimes. If you've seen people do worse things to animals, then they should be punished. You shouldn't let Vick go free just because others have done worse - that's a messed-up kind of justice.

This law has been on the books for a long time. Vick broke the law, and he's suffering the consequences. People can talk all day long about how punishments for one crime should be more or less, but that doesn't change this particular case - it's nothing buy a smokescreen for those who believe that he should be allowed to avoid penalty.

I think that you need to hit these million dollar athletes in the pocket where it hurts the most. Kick him out of the NFL, and make him do 5000 hours of community service in an animal shelter. I also think that Leonard Little, who killed someone in a drunk driving accident, then a few months later had another drunk driving accident but didn't kill anyone, should be banned from the NFL as well and have to serve 25 years in prison. BTW if you have seen other people do bad things to animals and didn't report them have these same people done bad things to other humans and you didn't report it??? That is where we start taking back our rights as law abiding citizens is standing up for what is wrong and speaking out and not bowing down to fear, you need to report these people not just stand by and say it is "out of your control"....

No, and the reason people are treating him this way is because there are a thousand other things Michael Vick can do with his spare time and money, and this moron decides to kill dogs and flush a 100 million down the drain.

Most cases of dog abuse I have seen where the owners are caught get their sentencing way before four months. I think they were soft on him because he's a popular football player, but the animal abuse was horrible. I can't believe anyone would beat an animal one that can never defend itself. It's sad to think that anyone would allow this to happen. If I know of anyone abusing an animal I would report them because they are like children even though there not human they still hurt and have emotions and can never talk and explain to people what's going on behind closed doors. He's old enough to know what he did was wrong and I think he deserved to get the harshest sentencing possible.

I'm with you I don't hate him, but not thrilled with him either

I think he will get kicked out and do his time, and if he wants to come back then, and he stops doing stupid stuff than I'm not against it. He just has done other bone head things before this, yet some people want to let it slide just because they put being a fan ahead of the right thing to do.
