i replace the battery and the light on the remote comes on but it will not unlock anything on the car. What could be the problem? Is there a such thing as reseting the remote.

The remote probably lost its programming. You will need to go to a local dealer and get it programmed. make sure you bring all your remotes at the same time.

think of your ignition switch as having numbers for settings
0=off
1=accessories
2=run
3=start

sit in your car, close the door.
toggle the lock button (on the door) a couple times
switch the key to setting 1, then 2, then repeat 8 times.
when the locks cycle themselves, STOP and press any button on the remote. do both remotes at the same time, in other words press a button on remote 1, then on remote 2, then turn key off.

try the remotes. they should work. if not, hit the dealership, and they will do the same thing, and probably charge you for the privelege.

The remote was coded to the car. When you replaed the battery you must have reset a code. Call your friendly Ford dealer, they should be able to help you. Just be glad your ignition key still works.

Check your owner's manual.

Call your dealer to see if the code has to be re-entered.
