ok, I have a male & female guppy, ive noticed the female has a very black butt, but her stomach is small. The male though, his stomach is HUGE! It looks like he's pregnant (impossible).

well my male guppy (oldest one) does get a big belly maybe youre feedin them alot and my female did have a gravid spot once and she was thin but had babys (:( before she died). she gave me 4 broods and her oldest one is all grown up. but even though my oldest male and youngest male (also only 2 i have) get into fights every day.

If your male has a big stomach, then you might be feeding him to much

Guppy's have alwasy the gravid spot present, since they can have up to 6 times fry without even a male present.

If your female just had fry, it's going to have fry very soon again, the gestation period is 28 days with all livebearers

The male is the pretty one, the one with all the colors & flashy tail. He is "pretty" so he can attract females.

The female looks very plain, so she can be fat and pregnant and other fish won't notice her as much, and she can protect her young.
