anyone who believes that money is going to charity is as dumb as the lady that bought the cards.

Silly? Maybe, but if it is raising money to try to prevent this type of thing happening again, I think it's a great idea. People that think this is going to far just have no sense. It's some stupid football cards, probably of not much value anyway, that are being turned in to good money. I too am getting sick of all of the coverage, and wish they would just sentence him and get it over with, but to think that this is a sign of someone taking this whole thing too seriously? Sorry, I have to disagree.
I'm sure I'll get a lot of thumbs down, but I would hope the folks who support Vick would realize he's got bigger troubles right now then his cards being chewed up.

I think some of the anti-Vick people are way too fanatical. This is almost like the Paris Hilton goes to jail saga earlier this year (but only worse). It is ridiculous that people are selling Vick cards which dogs have chewed. It is ridiculous that people decided that the Federal Government have a right to charge Vick in a case over which it has no jurisdiction (dogfighting is a crime under state law and Michael Vick should have been prosecuted by Virginia, not by Washington D.C. for his crimes committed in Virginia).
If you say anything that is favorable about Vick in this climate (or appears that way), fanatic people will send you alot of hate mail.
The same thing happened in the Duke Lacrosse case (a case in which the players were absolutely innocent of all charges and the claims made by the supposed "rape victim" were absurd, but it fit some people's ideologies so they continue to lie about this case, even after they have been debunked time and time again). Vick is definitely guilty of dogfighting, but I've noticed the same type of climate as there was during the Duke case (and which has, to a lesser extent, been part of the Padilla case, which is a "terrorism" case against a guy who clearly isn't a terrorist and whom has been tortured by the US government and is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome as a result of the government's behavior, but people want him to be guilty so that they can "feel safe").
This is sadly becoming a pattern in our country these days. People are letting their ideologies get in the way of justice, which is absolutely sad and a massive threat to everybody's freedom.

people will do anything and what the hell will they do with those chewed up cards? I was on ESPN and a reporter was writing about a broadcast he heard and he said one of the craziest things he heard was the guy saying there was a link between adults abusing animals and killing people. and that any unsolved murders in Atlanta should be checked for vick's prints.
I had to laugh. as someone that studies psychology these generalizations are held to children that abuse animals. and then I had to think about the ididocy of the statement. because he fought and killed dogs in virginia he should be viewed as a potential murderer in atlanta. People are going overboard with this thing. THis thing has more press than the kobe bryant rape, Oj's trial, and the Ray LEwis incident at the superbowl. people died and were raped but dogs dying is more important. Sick!

This story got some national attention and I doubt the ebay bidder will ever pay for the cards it is just a joke bid on a joke item.

I think in some ways you're right that it is being taken too far. As for this specific link, I look at it the same way I would to Jay Leno's opening monologue where he makes jokes at famous individuals expense.

It's nice to see money being raised for charity, but it could have been done without the anti-Vick sentiment. And the copycats are just silly.

What's so bizarre about someone with the money to spend, who chooses to make a statement and donate money to a good cause?
I think it is far better than somebody with more money than God that spends his $ on killing and abusing animals.
