I remember being 32. I think I was at Busch Gardens. I wondered when they would finally realize that I was a grown woman. Now I never get asked. They don't even challenge me when I show my 10% discount card at the department store (you have to be 55 or older).

40 !!!!!!

It was amazing

My sister and I have the same birthday and she was working bartending (and was head of the Union) at a racetrack so my parents and I went up there to celebrate by being together.

Now I do need to state that my grandparents and parents and all my siblings really have very fortunate genes and look way younger than the norm of our age...

but....

Earlier that day someone that was anti-union told security that my sister's 17 year old son was at the track. (he had been there before opening to ask my sister for some cash) So, when my parents and I were seen at her bar drinking the head of security called the local police and the State Patrol and the three of them and a few track officials came up and asked for my ID.
I assumed that my sister figured out that we would be there since my dad loved racetracks and had set it up as a practical joke. I even wondered if she had fixed it up with some TV show since she likes to go all out with things and was looking for the hidden cameras rather than pulling out my ID.
I was laughing and commenting on the realism and perfection of the 'costumes' and turned to her and asked if she hired "real" officers.
She held her hands up in the air eyes wide open (in terror ...grin) and was shaking her head 'No' saying she had nothing to do with it.
At that point my mom really started to laugh loud and the already mad State Cop put his hands on his gun as if he was ready to shoot me.
Well I did take out my ID and thanked them nicely for giving me a most excellent 40th birthday present.
Of course by then we were creating quite a bigger scene than track officials and security intended to create in an an attempt at discrediting her and the officials were all getting real mad especially when they discovered my ID said 40 and there were a lot of people coming up to verify that they knew I was 40.
Everybody that was around had to watch those poor officials try to slink away with a shred or two of dignity as the place got real boisterous with laughter and everyone buying us drinks cause it became public that it was our birthdays.

I just LOVED the whole thing!!!!

I'm not 55 or older, I'm 34 this year. I live and work in Thailand. Every club that I went to, always asked me for an id check. All I said to them was, are you crazy or just there is a screw loose up there. They said it is procedure, which I totally agree. But come on, sometimes you can read a guy's or a gal's face to see if they are of age.

But I do agree on one thing. There are so many of those make you look younger products out there right now that can make a 30 yr old look like they are in their early 20's or younger.

Anyway, just to say, that was a little silly getting your id checked while being known that you are of age already.

I was 52 & bought a nice bottle of wine for a celebration. My hair had just been dyed & I had no grey. As soon as the grey came back, no one has asked me for ID! I love to cook with beer & wine. It makes everything taste so rich. In my state of California, it is mandatory to card everyone when they purchase alcoholic beverages. If you don't have a valid photo ID on your person, then the clerk selling it to you can be fined and/or jailed for not checking. Just looking the correct age won't hold up if an Officer asks for proof during the sale. No one can enter a bar or order a drink without an ID in hand!

Every time I buy wine at the main grocery store in town. It's their policy. It bugs me that some 18 year old who has to call a supervisor over to scan the bottle insists on seeing my ID. There are times I tell them to look at me and find that button that says She Could Be My Grandmother and just ring it up already.

Not sure if you're counting to prove I'm a senior...llol...that would have been last week at the movies.

About 5 yrs ago for the other reason and I think that person was just having an 'off' day.

I was 26 and I was told I looked 18 at the time.

I felt great pulling out the ID and having their jaws drop.

This is really funny. I was in my mid 40s and I went into a bar with my daughter and son-in-law. I got carded, and they did not. I'm sure it was only because I had long hair AND because the lights weren't very bright.

Now that I'm 70, I haven't tried. LOL.

I was 12. No fooling. When you're very tall people assume you're an adult. I've been 6' tall since I was 12. I never got carded after that. It was one of the benefits to being so tall. There were many drawbacks.

Well I am still a young one (23) but it seems that they ask more now. When I was 17-20 I was able to by cigarettes and liquor no questions asked.

Now everyone wants to see that ID picture.........
