to secure access to oil and to gain a military base in the Persian Gulf Region
IMO it was and is a stupid idea
You'll see answers stating that we are there to fight terrorists and promote democracy. These reasons are rubbish. there would be no terrorist hatred for the US if we weren't meddling in the middle east in the 1st place and we don't support democratically elected governments there even when there are democratic elections. Its about control of resources, that's all there is to it. (that's all there is to ANY war)

Be careful what you ask sweety, there are many Right wingers who will call you names like traitor,
without giving you a straight answer. I hate this war I have right from the start. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11!

The point is that if you don't already know then you probably won't ever know because the reasons only matter to a select few people and u are obviously not one of them. I'm actually not included either, but with time I'll know everything there is to know and will probably go insane realizing that I never should have gone looking for that kinda information... There are really only like 10 ppl making this world go round... everyone else is just tiring themselves out looking for answers.

It is always better to fight people who are going to cause you problems, which includes the possibility of killing lots of people in the United States.
You have to remember that long before 9/11 that terror groups have hated the western world and it's way of life. It is a matter of time before they are on American soil doing the things that they are doing in Iraq now.
So do you think it is a better idea to take the fight to them in Iraq or wait until they are in your backyard?

Because we can't get out now without doing more damage than we've already done by going in in the first place.
