I have had my Rowenta (made in Germany) for a couple of years and I love it. Though it is a bit heavier than some irons it does a great job and you don't have to press as hard. It steams great too.
I got mine at Costco and the price is a lot lower than anywhere else I found.

Spend the extra money and buy a Rowenta. I believe they start at around $60 and go up from there depending on your needs.

Try a steam generator - tefal do a couple of excellent ones!

Not cheap, but worth their weight in gold!
