Google Powers Yahoo!

Google is the most powerful search engine in the world. While yahoo may be a lot more fun (the google home page is boring as hell) its where people go to do research rather than browse the web.You can get help with your homework if you search yahoo but if you query google you can cheat. There are many advanced search techniques that may be used to search their collection of indexed items that is too large to wrap ones mind around. Thats how powerful it is.Btw you can search the entire text of books on google which makes me wonder why people write books about google knowing that nobody will buy them they will just google them. Like I said yahoo is fun and informative, but,if you want at your fingertips so much knowledge that its a little bit scary...and a homepage so boring even after you costomize it that you feel like you'd rather clean your bathroom than be on the computer...Google is for you.

Why do you think this question will be deleted?

It does not contravene Yahoo Answers' guidelines.

Google has been in the search game longer and has a more extensive Database history of searches.

This means when you do a search on a topic, it can produce resulat much quicker and many more hits.

I use both. Sometimes I find a good hit on Yahoo or I compare results for research.

Good Luck.

Im gunna guess you were asking why Google's search engine is better than Yahoo? Truth is, Google is a bigger company,(Networking wise) But sometimes you'll notice that yahoo can find things google cant, and vise versa, look at the bottom of almost any webpage, e.g. myspace, hi5, Freeweblayouts.net You'll see a little link that says "Ads powered by GOOGLE"

No it won't! Google is waaay better at search than is Yahoo! Google is my web search provider of choice!
See, each search engine (Yahoo!, Google, Ask, etc.) has a unique algorithm (kind of like a system) of crawling the web and collecting sites and keywords. Google is the most-visited search engine in the US, and to a certain extent, in the world!

Keep on googlin'!

I've used Google for years, and I prefer it as my home page, I'ts a simple, clean layout without all the junk Yahoo displays on their page.

As for better, the search engines return much the same results.

Better in what way?

As for Search functions Yahoo is MUCH better than Google. Of COURSE, it depends upon where in the world one lives. ;)

As for "certain" 'legal' actions taken by both companies; well, they're BOTH bad actors!!! One is just as bad as the other, so we have to deal with it. :(

i don't think theres that much of a difference. googles just more famous, so people use it more. they also have a lot of tools, and maybe a wider list of search results.
