I think that during interleague play, they should play by the rules of the visting team's league. The Home team would still be home (bat in the bottom half of the inning).
But when a NL team plays in an AL park, they should not use a DH, and when its AL team visiting an NL park, they should use the DH.
This way fans can see the opposite league rules in action. I live in Seattle and have been to many Mariners games including some interleague games, but I never have the chance to see the pitchers bat. Additionally, fans in NL cities don't get to see the DH's play when they come to town, aside from an occasional pinch hit.
Note, I'm not asking whether or not you think the DH should be eliminated from AL or added to NL, save that argument for another time. Just asking if under the current rules you would support playing by the visiting team's league rules?

I think this would make it interesting for the fans, especially for those like you without many teams around. I personally live near the SF bay area so I've been to both Giants and A's games but I see where your coming from. My biggest concern is that it would make a bit less of a homefield advantage for the home team. For the interleague I think you could get away but not the playoffs, those would stay the same.
The problem the league would have would be getting the owners to agree to this. When a team is at home, they want them to win even more than on the road so they might not go along with this idea. I guess it depends on if you want a fun game to watch or for your team to win.

I would actually rather see all interleague games have a DH regardless of which park the game is at. It causes such a disadvantage when AL teams have to bat a pitcher and NL teams gain a DH. I would rather see more offense during interleague. Not to mention I'm tired of interleauge, at this point all the teams have played one another and it should be dwindled down to the one "rival" interleague series each year. But that's just my opinion.

This brings up the biggest problem about the DH. I personally think the DH should be completely gotten rid of, but I think what is even sillier about it is the fact that the leagues have different rules. Can you imagine what it would be like if this spread to other sports? Would the NBA ever have a 3 point shot in the Western Conference, but not in the Eastern? Would football ever make a field goal worth 4 points in the AFC, but only 3 in the NFC.
I can see your point, but I don't think it would go over well with most of the fans. I would imagine that most people prefer the style of baseball they have seen over the years. But congratulations on being open minded about seeing the game played differently.

The question is why would the NL want to do that? It wouldn't make sense for them to let a pitcher hit batting .098 when they have a player that could fill in at DH batting .300.
As for seeing the way the NL plays we still see it when AL teams play them in NL stadiums.
It's fine the way it is..

If MLB's powers-that-be REALLY cared about making interleague play interesting for the fans (and not just about making money, which is the reality; everything else is just lip service), then this is how the format would have been established initially.
Maybe it'll happen after Seligula's vise-like grip is released (probably when he turns to fertilizer), but not before.

It is really not a bad idea and it would be interesting for the fans, but it will never happen. MLB will always continue to play by NL rules in NL parks and AL rules in AL parks.

Yes. We have discussed this within my circle of friends for awhile now, and I think it makes more sense. Show the opposite league fans what the other game is all about. The players actually hate interleague, it is for the fans anyway, so why not???

Yes, fans have been discussing this for a few years now as interleague play has become a bit stale.

well that would be really odd I don't think that I would like that. I mean that each park should always use the rules if it's league.
