bad words? Or profanity?

Early in my marriage a person we knew called my husband a liar (outright!) I was offended and sternly interupted her and said "My husband may be a lot of things, but he is not a liar."
Later that day, I found that he did lie to her. I felt like the biggest jackass for standing up for him. Now, years and years later, I've learned that he is a constant liar. He lies to his own mother! He lies to his friends! He lies to his boss! What's to stop him from lying to me? Nothing.

Now when anyone calls him bad words or even profanities, I kinda shrug and say "welcome to my world."

I would channel Julia Sugerbaker from Designing Women and let them know quickly and without doubt that they have crossed the line!

I'd likely ask them to politely watch their choice of vernacular. And I'd use the word : Vernacular.

Watch their head spin.

Those people have a right to their opinion. If they make a statement that is false, I might correct it, but if they simply don't like the guy then it's their right not to like the guy.

If the words aren't true, I'd defend my fiance or lover, but if they are true or funny I'd laugh!!!!!!!!!

Very poorly. I tend to blow a fuse when people badmouth those I care deeply about - and I'm normally very easy going.

I would tell them in no uncertain terms why i didn't like what they were saying, why they shouldn't be saying it to me and to get out of my sight.
