The rich do for the rich and to hell w/ the rest! That's our shitty government! And New Orleans wasn't a **** hole before Katrina. PPL living in the lower income areas still lived, worked etc. Now they have nothing! Insurance companies are using loop holes to get out of paying policies like "We can't determine whether it was the rising flood water or the water entering your home from the roof damage" So they deny the claim?? B.S.!
IT SADDENS ME TO SEE HOW SELFISH MY FELLOW AMERICANS ARE. GOD SAVE YOUR SOUL WHEN YOU GO THROUGH A NATURAL DISASTER AND HAVE NOTHING, YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY DENIES YOUR CLAIM, YOUR JOBS GONE, YOUR BANK ACCT IF FROZEN FOR A MONTH ETC. "YOU BETTER NOT ASK FOR HELP THEN!" BUT YOU KNOW YOU WILL!
GOD BLESS MY FELLOW KATRINA SURVIVORS! STAY STRONG AND IGNORE THE IGNORANCE!!

Why is Bush asking for money from congress for the military? Probably because one of the primary functions of the federal government is to maintain the military. The plight of the katrina victims is largely the responsibility of state and local governments.
Maybe people are struggling because local landlords raised rents 30%. I guess Bush call them all up and told them to. Maybe also because mayor ray "chocolate city" nagin is as bumbling a fool as everyone believes Bush to be.

The President can and should be blamed for many things. This is not really one of them.

Wow, it appears that the questioner and several answerers have cracked the code. Bush cares more about his rich friends than about the poor souls of that beautiful jewel of the Gulf, New Orleans. It was so simple, how could the rest of us miss that?

Of course, never mind that NO was predominantly a dump before Katrina. And, never mind that local and state politics have been a bigger hindrance in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts.

It's just oh so much easier to blame all of the world's woes on Bush.

you ask two unrelated questions and I don't know which to answer.
Why is any administration responsible for problems that nature creates? Is there enough money from tax payers to pay for everything that nature does? no.
Some of the Katrina victims were poor and couldn't leave on their own and their Governor and Mayor were supposed to provide the transportation to get them out and timely. It was "their mistake" (governor/mayor/people) and not President Bush. But naturally money is allocated when these kinds of things happen. Katrina victims were supposed to MOVE and they refused to do that. Some of those who received money were jailed later because they bought fancy clothes, purses, and prostitution with the money they were given instead of using the money to get food, a residence and a job.

Most of the people in Katrina who are still suffering didn't have insurance, they were dead beats who didn't want to work. they are the maddest at the government who didn't build them a new home. The ones who were insured and worked are mostly doing OK. If the government supplies a mansion to every Katrina victim, that wont protect us from the Muslim extremists.

Most of those same "victims" were already victims before Katrina, living on the dole in the New Orleans slums. There's been billions dumped into that hellhole, it's time for those "victims" to do something to help themselves.

ok, here is the answer. Bush does not give a rats rear end about struggling people unless they have some way of padding his pockets. It is a fact that has been born out a number of times since this little man took the office. I hope when he dies and finds himself in hell, he will find time to reflect then, because he refuses to give it any thought now.
