Diaper, and diapers and oh yea more diapers lol. Stock up on them, they go so fast once the baby comes. You can really never have enough of them on hand. Start getting onesies, and wipes now also, those go fast too.

Since you know it's a girl, you can buy dresses and other clothes in sizes for newborn girls. Also, get necessities like diapers, wipes, a car seat, a carrier, baby bottles (even if you're planning on breastfeeding. You might have the baby suck on some water or even once in a while use formula), some wash cloths, a place for the baby to sleep, and some crib sheets. If you choose, you can get some pacifiers but not the silicon type. I've never seen a baby who liked them. You should have some small nail clippers and perhaps some mittens if you don't want the baby to scratch her face but that's a matter of personal choice. I know other people will suggest things like diaper cream, baby oil, shampoo, and baby powder. You can get those if you want but I never used them that much. So far, that's what I pretty much think is necessary for a newborn. You can buy toys and other accessories later on as the baby gets older. You won't use or need them right away.

If you go to Target.com or go into a target, they have this really nice baby catalogue and in there, they have checklists of things you need for the baby. Also, they have the checklist online. I haven't started yet (Im am also 22 weeks) but I did start my registry. I would say buy diapers and maybe not even the newborn ones, the older ones because I figure people will be giving you the newborns ones at your shower. If you want to buy cloths, also buy them in bigger sizes, say 6 to 9 months. You will probably get a lot of newborn and 0 to 3 months clothing at your shower. A friend of mine even suggested I start shoping for next summer now, when the baby will be about 6 months. Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

Well, go buy summer clothes at all the stores because Walmart, Kmart and TJ Maxx Stores have all their summer stuff on clearance for as little as $2 & $3 some outfits. Just buy 6-9 month-9-12 month sizes and when it gets colder, buy the 0-3, 3-6 sizes because your baby is due when it's cold. That's what i'm doing... :) Good luck! And you can get way more satisfaction because everything is soo cheap on clearance now for next summer... :) Buy a bathing suit or two, sandals, skirts, sun dresses... fun things like that

Little things like onesies, blankets, washcloths and even some clothes. I mean start looking around at the different colors you would like your child to have, like look at pack N' Plays, strollers and things like that so you can get an idea of the things you need to buy. I would say to start with the little things that your going to need on a day to day basis. Bottles too if your not breastfeeding. Really whatever you find cute and want to get now!

The basics first, I guess. I started shopping way sooner than that because I was so excited. As soon as I found out I was having a girl I bought TONS of clothes.

Diapers!!!, try to stock up on these, they get really expensive, so if you buy them little by little it will help. Crib. Bottles. Blankets. Toys. Look for sales too. If you buy clothes, make sure you save the receipt, they may not fit her or it could be a boy. Hope this help.

The not so obvious like diapers....
Oval, baby tylenol or your choice of fever relieving medication, penaten cream for diaper rash, baby dove body/hair wash, wash cloths, gripe water, soothers, nail clippers, brush and comb, bottles, formula (even if you are breast feeding as you may need to substitue), breast pump, thermometer, baby bathtub, rubbing alcohol (hospital here told me to rub it on her umbilical cord to help it dry up and fall off), epsom salts for sitz baths if you have stiches, baby monitor, cordless phone, PADS PADS PADS!!! I beld for over 8 weeks after I had my daughter and I couldn't use tampons becuase of my stiches.
So that is a few things that I would have on hand other then the obvious like crib, wipes, diapers, etc..etc...

crib
bottles
blankets
clothes
diapers (better to get them now when you have the money)
wipes
crib sheets
filter pichure (to filter your water for the baby unless you
breast feed or use bottled water)
burp rags
baby wash clothes
small baby towels
nuks (if you will be using them)
extra bottle nipples
