I visited New Orleans recently and it is pretty sad how desolate it still is. My perspective is that rebuilding takes much longer than you think it does. I was in Houston during Tropical Storm Allison, which was much less of a disaster that Katrina. It took a few years for the city to recover.

Why should New Orleans be rebuild at all. It is on land that is 10 feet below the sea and it is sinking. It will get hit again and will be the same thing all over. New Orleans has been the most corrupt city and has wasted the most funds of any place on this earth.
