It's just starting. The government has let us down and the country is going down the tubes. At the same time though it will make way for a revolution eventually. The public are fed up with the behaviour of the Chavs, hoodies and general morons that roam the streets. It will only be a matter of time before people stand up and say 'If the government will do nothing we will take the law into our own hands.' It's turning into a violent society and people will adapt. It just means that soon law and order will be a thing of the past. There is only so much bad good people can endure.

I'm only 34 but even since I was a child things have changed greatly. The problem is people have no respect for the law and each other and this has a lot to do with the breakdown of families and lack of role models in society. A lot of parents can't be bothered to stick out because they think it's better to go on the dole and for the taxpayer to fund their lavish lifestyles. Also the law is too soft and kids aren't afraid of getting sent to prison because it will be an easy ride for them and they'll get let out fairly quickly. Also another problem is immigration has got out of control and a lot of criminals are now over here causing trouble. If the government doesn't get tough and stop this then it's not looking good. We're seriously thinking about emigrating whereas before I was always very patriotic. It makes me sad.

No, dear. The UK isn't getting out of control. They are just being subjected to the nonsense fed to them by the TV/Hollywood media machine. Remember, we here in the U.S. were shocked when bombings happened in Oklahoma City and the first bombing at the WTC and then Waco, TX. You guys were accustomed to that all the time, due to the IRA.
The world is no more or less crazy now than it has even been, save for some changing mores. Hang on. More change is coming. But since you care, stand up and say: 'Hey! I've had enough!' I care about kids killing other kids. Violence in the theater or on the Internet. Let's stop this now! Every voice counts. If everyone sits back and does nothing, then it will overwhelm you and you'll wake-up one day and it will be too late. That's how Hitler and his crowd got control of Germany. The good people sat back and didn't speak up. Learn from history.

I sometimes wonder if it is all deliberate. I cannot see that the Government is really unaware of the violence being enacted in our streets nor can I believe that any sensible government would have withdrawn the police from the streets, particular in high risk inner city areas.
What better way to destroy a country (and the liberal opinion formers certainly seem to hate England) than by reducing it to anarchy. When you have achieved that, you bring on the tanks and the guns and impose a totalitarian state. No doubt people will accuse me of being nuts but I don't think my little conspiracy theory is any wilder than all the others floating around!

There has been a loss of control. The police have lost control of the streets, some teachers have lost control of the school and some parents have lost control of their children. This lost of control has been progressive over my lifetime.
The police spend at least as much time doing paperwork as they do patrolling the street. They seem to spend more time concentrating on increasing the revenue stream. They collect millions of pound each year from the motorist. Most crimes reported to the police are just that, reported to the police and that’s were it stays no investigation is done. Most people who report crime do so only to get a crime number so as to make an insurance claim. The fact is the police take the easy option, solving crime is harder than enforcing the various road traffic acts.
Teachers are unable to apply sanctions against unruly children. Following a misdemeanour they are merely told to behave and not to do it again. Such a reaction merely signals to the child that there is not punishment however bad the misdemeanour. These children can be very disruptive in class preventing other children learning. It is also frustrating for the teacher. Exclusion from school for the disruptive pupil does not me exclusion, for within weeks they are back at school and as disruptive as ever. The teachers can only blame themselves; many of them campaigned to end corporal punishment. Blown up by their own bomb.
Parents cannot deal with there children. By he sanction of corporal punishment. This is now a criminal offence, which can lead to the social service removing their children, they can be fined and go to jail. Those parents who fail to control their children, whose children are disruptive at school, terrorise the neighbourhood face no sanctions. Parents whose children have such behaviour problems should have all their children who are below the formative age taken from them and should be prevented form having further children. Those parents who have displayed a responsible manner in rearing children should adopt the children of such dysfunctional parents.
First thing to do is repeal the human rights act and introduce a bill of rights that protect the law abiding and withdraws such rights of those who by their criminal act interfere with the rights of the law abiding. I would support public birching and the stocks for first time criminals and the tattooing of the persistent criminal.

Yes, the Rhys Jones tribute was really moving. His parents are so brave. But they're all just kids, even his killer. The adults need to start taking back control of the children and find out why kids are behaving like they are so that they can be stopped and saved. Otherwise there's no hope for the future of this country. They're all victims.

It sure seems like we are going off the rails and how the heck do we get the country back on track?
I like Barking mad's comment, I have said for a long time that many children are not disciplined enough and it does not help that a parent can be punished if they use a physical punishment on a child.
Everything an adult turns out to be is influenced from an early age. If there is no disciplin and no punishment for wrong doing whilst young, it will follow through to adulthood.

We have become too soft. There is no respect for the law of the land or for our elders anymore, what a sad day. We have lost that community spirit, apart from last night when Liverpool became one, but, the circumstances should not have been so tragic, can we not learn from this, we can become one and stand against these yobs, bring back Britain and turn it into Great Britain once again.

The lack of good role models. Look at Blair anything went with him and whilst the the disintegration of our Society has been on the decline since the seond world war that man did more harm in almost ten years in office as did any previous prime minister. He is not a patriot but a traitor in my eyes he would have loved to have seen the end to the Monarchy and to all good that is British.
Bloody communist just like most of the BBC and the cronies that run this country.
