Least significant figure

You have to round down/up 1 sig fig only as I remember...due to the fact that the least significant is 2.1...just pick the number with the least digit after the decimal point. Then use that as the least significant figure.

so the answer would be: 51.6

First of all do the calculation:-
(11.23 +).423 +2.1)*3.7505
13.753 * 3.7505
51.5806265
You don't ask for how many sig.figs. However if we say 4 sig figs then the answer is
51.58
NB You count the required number (4) digits from the left, ignoring the decimal point.
If we say three (3) sig figs then the answer is
51.6
NB Method is to inspect the fourth digit. If it is 5 or greater, in this case '8', then add one to the third digit, and ignore the remaining figures to the right.

Break it up to make it simpler. Don't try to do it all at once or you'll confuse yourself.

11.23 + 0.423 = 11.653
Sig. Figs for this...
When adding and subtracting you only use the one with the fewest decimal places. So since 11.23 only has two... 11.653 after sig figs is 11.65
11.65+2.1 = 13.75
Only one decimal in 2.1 so change 13.75 to 13.8
13.8 * 3.7505 = 51.7569
With multiplication and division you only use as many sig figs as the figure with the fewest sig figs has. In this case 13.8 has three sig figs. So now change 51.7569 to 51.8 and that is your final answer.

So 2.1 only has one sig fig. Therefore, your answer can't have more than one because any more than that aren't right.
