I would consider it disrespectful (and a major hinderance to marital intimacy) for my spouse to go behind my back to solve a conflict that is between us with out my consent.

For a spouse to go behind his/her partner's back for ANYTHING is disrespectful and a hindrance. My husband and I have gone through a lot of things together, and they have always brought us closer when we worked as a team to solve them.

Absolutely.

All conduct, conversation and opening up should only be between partners.

If your spouse is doing that, then there is a deeper problem. Mistrust and deception, and possibly hurt and vengefulness is present.

Without anger and blame, all this needs to surface on the table, and with love find the root of why the "need" to go behind the back.

If all else fails, see a marriage counselor. Marriage is priorty.

That depends on gender. For a woman it may be but in most cases for males there is nothing more intimate than sex.Its really kind of sad that men and woman aren't geared the same way in this case and it doesn't make men perverts or anything it's just our chemistry. But conflicts should be resolved between husband and wife without interferance.
