I had to take off the carbs, I put them back on. I had sprayed carb cleaner into the carbs but didn't disassemble them. The idle mixture screw got completely thrown out of its normal setting. I started the engine, got white smoke. I shut off engine, white smoke still poured out one of the exhaust pipes for about 5 minutes. What burned? Was it carb cleaner? Was it a very VERY rich fuel mixture that burned heavy smoke? Thanks.

Usually white smoke is from coolant as JeffyB said. Maybe a head or intake manifold gasket leak.

YOu may have coolant leaking into your cylinder heads.
