Once i saw a science fair project in at my school. It was a small Pump that was made with a DC motor. It was really small (about two inches long and a inch wide) and it only needed a 3v battery to run.
It was used to pump water from one glass to another glass in the project.
Can anyone tell me how to make one pump like that?

If you need a small pump I would recommend buying a small aquarium pump at a discount store. They are relatively inexpensive and made for the light work you refer to.

check at a garden shop, or wal-mart,
there are small pond -fountian pumps available
