Everyone has a right to live.

As someone whose boyfriend signed up to serve in this war and whose father served during Vietnam I find your question ignorant and insensitive. Why don't you think about this, the American military is volunteer only. If it weren't for those troops signing up in the face of danger, there would probably be a draft. Wrap your head around the implications of that the next time you think to disrespect them. And, in the future, why not try a little respect and kindness? It will get you farther.

Everyone has the right to live.

Consider what Einstein said about war.

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

What do you mean? Are you saying just because an individual is in the military he/she doesn't have a right to live? I'm confused.

As for IEDs, yes, they train for those. That's a part of the job, unfortunately. These people are volunteers. They weren't drafted and go to battle knowing the risks. They deserve to live every bit as much as you do.

Everyone has a right to live. The men and women who join the armed forces know the consequences of joining up, and they do it anyway. They are willing to put their life on the line for total strangers - you, me, and other people. It's highly respectable. What I think is a shame is that too many people take their courage and dedication for granted.

A true American, I think not. Everyone has the right to live.
What is the point of your question?

Everyone has the right to live. I don't consider this "a shame."

One would be better off questioning why we are in these invasions/wars in the first place. . . .
