I am going to BestBuy today and buying a laptop. I have Verizon DSL at home and I want to use it for my laptop too but wirelessly. Do I need to get anything to set this internet connection up. I heard about routers but which one should I get if i do need one.

Linksys routers are really easy to setup, just pop a CD in and it walks you through the process.

Linksys is what i have also. the documentation will walk you through setting it up. it's not hard just time consuming. they also have a phone # you can call for extra help. when you do this, don't overlook network security. the router will tell you how to set a password that's different than the default. be sure & do this because hacker's count on the fact that many people install these and don't bother to change the default passwords. they can get free internet plus it's a security risk to your pc's. read the directions & if it seems like more than you have time for or want to take on then you can hire someone to do this for you. good luck!

You will need a wireless router. I have a Linksys and my in-laws have a Netgear. I set up both networks - the Linksys was a little easier.

Any broadband router/modem will do. Since laptops generally have built-in wireless cards, I would suggest wireless. This will replace your existing modem, then wire the desktop to it and connect the laptop by wireless.

get a wireless router. I'm sure your laptop comes with a wireless card. Be sure to inquire at BestBuy too.
