"Owen Wilson was taken to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica, California Sunday afternoon and the National Enquirer is claiming it was a suicide attempt. They say that he sliced his left wrist and took an overdose of pills. He was transferred from St. John’s after being stabilized to be detoxed and details are still coming out."
He was definitely in the hospital, but the National Enquirier is the one claiming it so there's no actual facts to back it up.
"TV’s Extra has confirmed that Wilson did try and take his own life, and they have official documentation to prove it.
Extra has obtained the Calls for Service report from the Santa Monica Police Department, which lists the reason for the 911 call from Owen Wilson’s house as an “attempted suicide.”
The call was received on Sunday, August 26 at 12:08:16 p.m."
So yes, he did.
Owen Wilson's statement: "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."
Doesn't tell us much.
But The New York Post is reporting that he was hooked on heroin and cocaine and also very depressed and that's a much more reliable source, they're also reporting that that's why he and girlfriend Kate Hudson split.
"According to [The Daily Mail],[Owen was using] a deadly cocktail of illegal drugs, including crystal meth and OxyContin - also known as 'hillbilly heroin.'"
Apparently this is all Steve Coogan's fault. He was the one who got Owen Wilson hooked on drugs in the first place.

Owen did attempt to take his own life. His brother called the police and ambulance. Poor guy!
