What has happened to the much-ballyhooed liberal tolerance and inclusiveness? Last time I checked, the liberal tome was that homophobia indicates latent homosexuality, and that these poor people are forced by society to live in the closet for fear of persecution. So if Craig is in fact gay, isn't his membership in the Republican party just a symptom of his societally motivated need to cover himself from persecution? I don't know why he wouldn't be embraced with loving arms and encouraged to come out of the closet and embrace his true self and join the Liberal utopia..... unless liberal tolerance and inclusiveness is all a bunch of BULL! So what's the deal?

I don't support him. I want you guys to take him off our hands. It seems society has made quite a mess of him with its' bias against gays. Take him in and help him learn to love himself and join his people with pride!!

Why do you chastise Liberals for not being more tolerant of crimes of moral turpitude than Cons?

That's pretty hypocritical.

Secondly, the issue is not the senator's sexual preference, but the fact that he was unlawfully soliciting sex in a public restroom. What if your teenage son had been in the other stall; would you still feel the same way?

Thirdly, Senator Craig has praised anti-gay legislation, adversely affecting the rights of his fellow gay constituents. He's a big phony and a hypocrite.

Lastly, our representatives have a higher duty to not engage in moral turpitude-type crimes; what kind of example does this set for our children?

In conclusion, Senator Craig's unlawful and unethical actions, while being in a position of authority, are what disgust "Liberals" (and the rest of us Americans); not his sexual preference.

Again a Republican misses the point. No liberal cares that Craig is gay. Liberals are in favor of gay rights and acceptance for gays. Their actions prove this.

The point is Republican hypocrisy -- they make an issue out of gay marriage and gay rights and "family values"-- and imply that republicans are somehow morally superior...yet keep getting caught with their pants down...

Get it?

Here's the deal (straight from a liberal's mouth) - it's not Craig's homosexuality we detest. It's the hypocrisy of it all, and the fact that he's just another in a long string of republican conservatives who tout family values and nay-say equal rights for homosexuals, and then turn out to be homosexual themselves!

I am always happy when someone comes out of the closet, no matter who they are - it means that they are finally allowing themselves to be who they were born as. It's not Craig that is being attacked, it's his hypocrisy.

Make sense?

You write: "Unless liberal tolerance and inclusiveness is all a bunch of BULL!"

Clearly, with your vast understanding of the nuances of tolerance and inclusiveness, we liberals can't put anything over on you! Unless... wait, isn't there supposed to be a point in "tolerance" where you call people on the consequences of their actions, like when they preach against a vast array of other people, then end up committing the behavior they've encouraged hatred toward?

Or is that too nuanced for you.

Why are you trying to paint Sen. Craig as the victim? He knowlingly went into that bathroom for a sexual encounter and got busted for it.

The outcry by the "liberals" wouldn't be so loud if Craig had been quiet about his anti-gay agenda views. Instead Craig used his position of authority to speak to the press about his anti-gay views and is now getting rightfully slapped about the gross hypocrisy he showed.

Too bad, how sad. Now grow up and get over it.

Excuse me, who ever told you that anyone, conservative or liberal, ever condoned lying. This despicable piece of human garbage spent his entire political life being elected on hate messages toward homosexual men and women; and now he is lying about the fact that he is a closet homosexual. Who is supposed to be tolerant of that behavior.

It isn't the fact he is a homosexual, it is the fact he persecutes homosexuals in order to be elected and then refuses to admit he is one himself. Talk about hypocricy.

Step back and take a look at who you are supporting. Would you rather support a hate monger who destroys the lives of perfectly decent human beings in order to be elected to office (Craig) or the people who say his behavior is unacceptable.

His membership in the Republican party just a symptom of what is wrong with The Party of the Color of Blood, and The Party of Hypocrites. 3 down in 2 weeks, I find that very encouraging.

You already spewed much of this in an answer to another question, and I suspect you actually already know the answer. If he had just been a regular Senator, doing his job, and hadn't been such a virulently anti-gay, moralistic, "family values" blowhard, the gay community would probably welcome him with open arms, and the "liberals" just wouldn't care.

But no, he was a judgemental bigot who was more concerned with so-called "family values" than with civil rights.

THAT'S the deal.

We don't hate the man, we just enjoy seeing right-wing hypocrisy at it's finest. I hope he does come out of the closet. When your social voting record is as right-wing as this guy and then it turns out he likes guys after all, he's an embarrassment. Be who you are and don't be in denial I say.

We have no problem with gays. We have problems with lying, hypocritical sacks of sh*t. He hates himself so much, I don't think that he would be capable of change at this late point in his life. Better he get out of politics altogether. At least then he will just be hurting himself and not millions of other Americans as well...
