why the hell is everyone over reacting soo much about michael vick and his dogfighting case? its not like it never happens, its probably happening hundreds of other places right now. plus- THEY ARE DOGS!!!!! dogs, people. what have dogs done for us. it may not have been the most ethical thing to do but hell, he did something useful with them. please people think about this. think about america right here: white people used slaves for hundreds of years. i never see people defending them. i never hear people talking about how bad the white people of the pre-civil war period were. and no im not black. but really, slaves were treated 10 times worse than these animals. he is getting more attention than if he had killed a person!!! personally i dont give a damn about what he did anymore, it was wrong, hes punished, and lets all just get over it.

the only people ive heard condemning others for slavery are the people writing the history books and teachers. id put money on it (just like vick put money on his dogs) that this will not go down in any school history book.

I agree with you about it not being a big Deal, but what you have to understand about the Dog Lovers is that they take the mans best friend quote to heart. All this while the ASPCA puts down millions of dogs a year and you cry about 50. No one is protesting the people who get caught rooster fighting, so where are you same people when it comes to chicken's rights. People are so backwards these days and have their morals switched from what they really should be. Children get molested or what not everyday and there is no one on TV everyday for that cause so when it comes to dogs I am one of the first to holler who cares because with an outlook of the real problems in America, Michael Vick and his dogs are not even in my TOP 10. Peace Out. And for the record there are people in the NFL who have murdered people and served time for trafficking drugs and dogs get more coverage than these issues.

It's because he's a highly paid sports celebrity that it is gaining so much attention. OF course it's going on other places and may even be accepted in some cultures, but because he has NFL affiliations and contracts and endorsement deals, the opportunity to take him down in a profile case was too much to resist. It is illegal and that is the only reason that it's gone this far. People are just reacting because they are familiar with Vick as a player and have extremely strong emotions about animals. Right to feel that strongly about animals and punish that harshly for dogfighting??? I don't know. Apparently the public is not having it.

Just what planet are you living on anyway? And you are telling me you've NEVER heard anyone condemning white people for slavery? Another product of our public education system, apparently.

Anyway, people MIGHT have cut Vick some slack if he was only attending dog fighting. But he was raising them for that purpose, he was organizing the fights, he was killing the dogs that didn't perform to his satisfaction, and he was running a betting operation on the fights...that's racketeering, my friend.

Apparently, based on your remarks if you don't have a use for an animal, you have no problem with them being tortured purely for the entertainment of others. Well, MOST human beings don't agree with you. So that is why people are reacting...NOT over reacting to Michael Vick.

He's an overpaid street punk and is no where near getting what he deserves and that is another reason why everyone is so upset with him. He plea bargained down to just fighting the dogs in order to avoid the WAY more serious racketeering charges. That would have landed him in jail for decades.

Yes, there is an over the top reaction to this, but there is a reason for it. Vick is not some guy on the street makin a living promote dogfights. He is a very talented sports celebrity worth tens of millions of dollars, and yet he risks it all for chump-change? I think he should be banned from sports for life first because that is the penalty that is called for but more importantly this is the opportunity for the new commisioner to let it be known that the gangsta antics are injurious to the sport and will not be tolerated. Those who play proffessional sports receive great rewards and with those rewards come great responsibilities, it time they faced up to them

Needless to say, I am a Michael Vick supporter. I am just a person who was almost mauled to death by a pit bull and have a disdain for all dogs now. One less dog in this world is fine with me. I don't think if anyone experienced the pain and agony I have endured for the past year they would be fighting so diligently to have Michael arrested and prosecuted. I stand behind him because I hate all dogs..... Oh by the way the owner's reaction to his dog biting me "he doesn't bite" my law suit is still pending....

As awful as the dog fighting is, I think Mr. Vick dug himself in so much deeper because he lied. He's a role model to young people. Being in the public eye, as he is, he has a responsibility to act with honor and maturity(as all should). When a person lies, trust is something that is sometimes never regained.
