who is the hero in james joyce's Araby? why?

The hero is the young man who is in love with the older woman and goes out of his way to get to the bazar and buy her a token of his affection. Since he changes in the end of the story as far as his emotions go, he would be considered a tragic hero. It is a great story. Pax - C
