I am curious about it. I am thninking about getting a IUD, however I just want to know if it is accurate. I was told that I would not get pregnant for 10 years. Is that true? Are there any side effects?

Thank You for responding....

I have an IUD, and I love it . I have 3 girls and after the 3rd didn't want anymore but I'm only 26 and hubby is 30 so we didn't want to have my tubes tied. We just started talking about having a 4th next year thank god for the IUD. No bad side effects just weird periods for the first 6 months. Now I have my period very light every couple of months. I would def get the IUD if you plan on having kids again in the future. They have some that last for 5 years also.

**** luck :)

I have an IUD. Its good for 5 years. Its pretty nice to have since I'm breastfeeding and it doesn't interfere. Basically no side effects yet for me. It does have a little hormone in it but its localized to the uterus so it doesn't cause systemic effects like weight gain ect. They say sometimes you get break through bleeding but it tend to lighten your period. I love it. No fuss no muss for 5 years. It also has an accuracy rate close to sterilization.

My doctor assures me that they are safe, and very effective. Less than 1 or 2 out of 100 women using the IUD become pregnant. (per birthcontrol4u.com) Unfortunately, they are expensive ($700 is the number I was told by my doctor), although most insurance plans cover them.

Nothing better.............It can get embedded into your uterus.
