it is actually illegal in most states for a tattoo parlor to do a tattoo on a pregnnt woman. one of the reasons being if your in the third trimester of pregnancy the shock of your body trying to heal the tattoo site could put you into labor. i went with my fiance and my dad to get theres touched up and out of curiosity i asked them and thats what they told me. they also cant do it if your drunk or on drugs that they can tell. hope this helps!!!!

Yep! Nothin happened. I actually was about 4-5 weeks and didn't find out yet. Had a good idea that I was since we were "trying" and all, but no for sure positive yet. My tattoo guy cut me off after that one though. Once we found out, he said NO MORE. Its nothing to worry about if you DO get one, but its a liability thing with the tattoo place or artist. They generally don't pierce or tattoo anyone that is pregnant simply because of the adrenaline associated with controlling the pain and whatnot. And the risk of infection when you are putting something into your body.

many people do. tho you're not supposed to because of the risk of infection, not that it happens very often but most doctors feel that you should put your baby at as little risk as possible. tattoo shops aren't supposed to tattoo women who are pregnant and obviously sometimes women get tattooed before they know they are pregnant. it's just like anything else that is considered risky during pregnancy.

i KNOW i will be impatiently waiting to get tattooed when we finally decide to have kids. just knowing that i can't have one will make me want one even more!
good luck!

oh, and in some tribes women get tattooed when they are pregnant because they feel that it makes the baby strong, it's more of a spiritual thing you know?

A reputable tattoo parlor will not let you get a tattoo when you are pregnant. They also won't let you get one if you are drunk or otherwise impaired. You could probably get one in someones basement, but then you'd just be asking for hepatitis.

No good tattoo artist will put a new tattoo on a pregnent woman. You should not get a new tattoo while pregnent, you may not want it later, and if you get it in a spot that has swolen it might look like crap after your not pregnent!

yes and the baby and I are fine now. I was about 8 weeks. I think the only reason the shops won't do it on pregnant women is because of the risk of infection and they don't want to be sued! but they never knew..

You do run the risk of contracting hepatitis when you get a tattoo...so best advice for baby is to wait till its born.

No way! I would never subject my unborn fetus to that! Although since I have been pregnant I suddenly want one! Maybe afterwards ill think about it but not while i'm pregnant!

I always thought you weren't supposed to get them done while pregnant. The ink goes into your blood stream or something....and it can affect the baby...I could be wrong, but I wouldn't chance it!
