Im running windows vista here. Im supposed to get 768 kb a second but it seems slower. I whent on the speed test and there it was, it said im only running 368 kb per second. Im not downloading anything either so what do i do?

hi,
call your internet service provider, and have them reset your connection. happens to me all the time.

This is called throughput speed. Connection speed is the speed limit - for you, that would be the 768Kb you signed up for.

Throughput speed is the speed you experience while using the Internet. it is ALWAYS slower than connection speed, due to a number of factors...

The capabilities of the websites you are visiting
How busy the network is .
The wiring in your home
How many PCs are connected to the internet connection in your home.

This is normal. On your terms of service (that came with your internet service) it explains that "speeds are not guaranteed" and "uninterrupted use of the service is not guaranteed".

Sorry, but that's the way it is with all Internet providers. Nature of the beast.

Vista Updates all the time you can stop the service and Vista runs twice as FAST!!

Internet speed is more often determined by your ISP then your PC. If you are not getting the speed you are paying for, call them. Usually they have to make adjustments to their equipment.

dude its cuz not only are you running windows but your running vista witch is like a double whammy. trash the pc and buy a mac, so much easier :)

your speed is probably being shared with another customer from the ISP (internet service providers) that you are signd up with. if you want dedicated, then you should call them up.
