I am on the third book of The Saxon Series by Bernard Cornwell.
The Saxon Stories tell the tale of Alfred the Great and his descendants through the eyes of Uhtred, an English boy born into the aristocracy of ninth-century Northumbria, captured by the Danes and taught the Viking ways.
I also just read "Missing Links" & "Shanks for Nothing" by Rick Reilly

"The Bookwoman's Last Fling" by John Dunning
The latest in a mystery series about Cliff Janeway, a former homicide detective turned rare book dealer. The stories all take place in the world of rare books or have a book connection. This latest one isn't the best in the series, but is keeping me interested enough to keep reading.

Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet. Pretty exciting stuff, war, pillage, kings, treachery, thievery, the Church, the sinking of the White Ship and its consequences, villains, heroes, louts, oafs, cruel bishops, cunning priests, exotic women. Kings Stephen and Henry, Queen Maude, and Sir Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury.
