I found this company on craigslist. It was a company started by a someone named N. Higgins looking for an at-home adminstrative assistant. Has anyone heard of this company, and if so, is it a scam? I need work, but I don't want to be scammed?

What is their website? Any legit company will have a website. Of course, non-legit companies will have a website too. It is a good enough place to start though.

Ask yourself, how does the company make money? Who are their clients. If they have a website, go over it with a fine tooth comb. Check out everything they claim. Check their phone and address. Meet them in person. If you cannot meet them in person at their office then don't do business with them. If a company is willing to hire you sight unseen over the web then there is something wrong.

Extra stuff. Do not give them your social on your application or any other information that will help them steal your ID. It is illegal for them to ask for your birthdate on an application. Do not send them any money for any reason. They do not need to know your bank information either. If that is a requirement for the job then pass them by. Credit cards are also a no-no.
