I moved out of the apartment 6/30/2007 and paid my half of the rent for the next month as my 30-day notice to my boyfriend. Things had gotten pretty bad and I had to get out asap especially since I am pregnant. I discussed with him the terms of my moving - I had paid $240 for the electric deposit, which i agreed to allow him to keep, as well as the security deposits so he could have additional cushion to pay move out costs or for next month rent if he decided to get a roommate (it was a 2 bedroom 2 bath). Although I signed myself off the lease on the 30th, he did not sign my name off so I'm still liable for fees if he doesn't pay.

He later decided he would move out and verbally agreed to pay 100% of the move out costs. He will not talk to me and it will be soon turned over to a credit/collections agency if it's not paid. I will pay the costs to avoid having a dent in my credit, I just wanted to know if I could get him to pay it back since he agreed too.

I usually wouldn't be so petty about it but the total move out cost is approximately $900 and with a baby due any day and being a full-time student, well, I just don't have money laying around, especially since he hasn't paid a dime towards the child costs either, but that's another story. Thank you!

If you could not take an ex-roommate to small claims court, what would Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, Judge Alex, The People's Court, Judge Joe Brown, et al, fill the airwaves with??

Oh honey! Take him right now! Sometimes it's the mommy that has to teach the father to be someone his child will respect and now is the time to start. If he won't be adult about his responsibilities right now, imagine the time your little baby will have with this father! Get it started now and don't let him backslide for a second. You want a good Daddy for your child. Grow one, the judge will love explaining the facts of life to him.

Sure, you can take him to small claims court over this, but even if you win, if he still doesn't pay you, you'd still be responsible for whatever you are signed for.

Good luck. And as soon as the baby comes, file for child support
