I started taking birth control about 4 weeks after I gave birth, I didnt have a period prior to this. Ive been taking them for about 3 weeks now and I just got what I think is my period, I have a week of active pills left and then I have the inactive pills after.

So my question is should I start taking taking the inactive pills? or continue with the active pills?

If this is your very first pack of pills post-partum, then its a very good likelihood that its just breakthrough bleeding, and will probably go off & on till you have your period and start your next pack. However, rest assured that the efficacy of the pills is there still...as long as you take the pill as prescribed.

If it continues after 3 months of pill cycles, then you may just need to change formulations.

Keep taking one pill per day at the same time each day as described. Your body needs time to regulate with the pills.

keep going as if your period didn't start yet.Your periods will begin to normalize but if you go off the active pills now it won't and worst of all you can get pregnant.Read the instruction booklet included in the prescription.
