m really confused on this. what does it mean to express youself? does it define how you feel about yourself on what you wear or what color you dye your hair?
if for example, i dyed my hair black with red ( which i once did) does that define how i feel in myself? ( i was depressed alot)
Or if i dyed it brown ( which i did again) would it define how i see myself ( i felt alot more happy with life)

All im trying to understand is, by what we wear or how we style our hair, does it difine how we feel about our selfs?
if i wore my hair over my eyes, would that be a sign im insecure about my self, or i like the style? and if i wore alot of black, do i feel dark and depressed inside, subconsciously speaking?

i see teens on the street wearing black and with black hair alll dark and i think to myself, they looked depressed and have lots of attitude and i see teens that look normal, and its makes me think that what you feel come through your style and how you feel about yourself shows in hair.

It's going to be different depending on the person. For me personally, how I feel has little bearing on how I dress. I just dress in whatever looks good.

Actually it's the other way around, how you feel affects how you dress and style your hair. So if you are depressed you may choose a hair style or color that you think matches your depression. You could also choose a hair style/color that you think will cheer you up.

While you might be able to determine some one's general attitude by their dress, it is not the best indicator as they may simple like black, be trying to fit in, or those may have been the only clean (hopefully) clothes they had. Same with hair style and color.

I disagree. I was raised to think that physical apperance is everything and you must always look you best no matter what. So, even when I'm depressed I will still have an awesome hair style and cute clothes on. However, I love dark clothes and I'll wear a black dress even when I'm on top of the world.

People who are really depressed do generally tend to drift to the darker colors of the spectrum. But as far as does a hairstyle define who you are. I would say no. I never let anything define me. I am who I am inside and all that matters is that I style my hair for practicality and because I like it and I wear clothes that are comfortable, but they dont define me.

when we are happy and content we tend to choose uplifting color to make us feel warm and uplifted in all we do. When we dress with black and other dark colors we are eliminating this colorful existence from our lives.
