I purchased a ClearBlue Easy fertility monitor and used it for one month and got pregnant. I had a miscarriage and lost the baby at 3 months pregnant. My sister-n-law purchased one before I bought mine, used it one month and also miscarried at 1 month preggy. I lost my child in May. Started my monitor back up in July and am still waiting for a period. I ovulated late in August so its too soon to tell but I am thinking I am pregnant. Trust me when I tell you it is well worth the $$$. Buy one on ebay. You can get one for about $100.00 vs $300.00 in the store. I used to chart... I tossed that out the window with this monitor. I ovulate drastically different from what charting said. Don't guess sweetie... Be sure. Save yourself the stress. Baby dust to you!!

P.S.
My sister-n-law is 4 months pregnant now using her monitor;)

I used an ovulation test for the first time this month. I expect my period in 5 day's so I'll see soon if it worked this month or not! I reccomend using them because you may ovulate earlier or later then the average 14th day most people ovulate on. I have been trying for about three months.. and the ovulation tests showed me that I didn't start to ovulate until the 19th day! Much later then most people.. this really helped me time when to have sex this month. So like I said.. they are a good idea and my doctor thought reccomended them as well.

Definately.. first month I used them I am now pregnant.

I bought Answer brand Ovualtion Sticks
Not the midstream ones , those are more expensive.
I bought the sticks at walmart and they were 16.99 for 20 test sticks. I didn't even use them all. THeres also a 3.00 off coupon in the box, to use on your next purchase. or you can be sneaky and open the box in line and use the coupon..lol

I started testing on day 10 and tested everyday till I got a positive. I ovulated on CD 19 but thats a bit later than the norm.

Good Luck

From what I can gather they are worth it. I am using them this cycle in combination with charting my temperature (which I have done for 5 cycles now). I am on my 14th month ttc so I am desperate to try anything. My doctor recommended yesterday that I use them this cycle just to see. She also was the one who recommended the charting because she said that shows me if there is a pattern from month to month but it only shows ovulation after the fact. She said opk's would be good to use in combination with the charting because they determine ovulation before it happens. She also recommended that I read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It is a great book that I now recommend to all women. There is a great website- fertilityfriend.com. It is free and full of a lot of usefull info. Good luck ttc!!!

I have bought ovulation kits before (I actually am reading it now) the way it works is it "detects the LH hormone 24- 36 hours before the egg release from the ovary" (ovulation)..it says that "your most fertile the day the surge is detected and the day after".. (sperm can live for a while and even longer if you time it right and are ovulating.).. I think its worth it... good luck ( I bought the ClearBlue one)

I recommend buying opk's-with the backup of 3 seperate specialists in infertility that have told me to use them every month. Opk's tell you before you ovulate, and all you have to do is pee on a stick. Charting your temp tells you after you have ovulated and its more work. As far as accuracy, I noticed that generic brands didn't work as well for me. So I only use "Answer," or "First Response."
Whatever you decide, good luck :)

I would get one if you are charting your cycles. I got one for this month and have been trying for about 5 months now, I'm hoping it works. There is also this book called "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler that is really good she teaches you all about your body and what signs to look for. you can get it on ebay or amazon new/used for a fair price.
if you did buy a kit I would go to target or cvs and just get the test stripes they are around $15-20

If you are charting, then no, it isn't necessary. If you aren't charting, and want more info, then it can be helpful.

Also, if you have regular cycles and are fairly confident of when you are ovulating, but just want the confirmation, then you can really make one of those ovulation packs last a long time. Once it reads positive, there is no need to keep testing.

Good luck and lots of baby dust!

No, I wouldnt. Many women never get a true positive but DO ovulate. Many more get positives too many days in a row for it to be taken seriosuly. What I DO recomend is to chart your cycles. There are several sites out there that are good for this. Personally I preferred www.fertilityfriend.com but another I see discussed is www.mymonthlycycles.com.

I bought a box of the tests and it didn't work for me. I still have a couple un-opened tests that expire November 2007. If you're interested, I can mail them to you if you would pay for shipping.

I got pregnant after one to two months of trying. Even when I was pregnant, the tests says I wasn't ovulating.
