One thing they haven't done is nod in agreement to another Bush War. Let's give them credit for that! I wish they had stopped funding this one. In case you don't know, this is the way Congress finally halted the Viet Nam War, after 50,000 American deaths, one million or more Vietnamese deaths, and God knows how many Viet Cong!
Yes, they have managed to pass few pieces of legislation, but because it takes 60 votes in the Senate and there are only 51 Democrats, the Republicans have managed to shoot down most legislation. They didn't want to raise the minimum wage. Republicans always bring up that old fallacy, that raising the minimum wage makes it harder for businesses. It's not true. You can't buy goods, if you don't have the money to buy them. The more you pay workers, the more they spend, the better the economy.
Because wages are lowered and jobs outsourced, a recession or a depression is next for the U.S. The housing market kept it afloat for a while, but no longer.
So, helping out with college loans is a boon to students, and was passed by the Democrats with the help of a few Republicans.
Because of the Senate deadlock, not too much legislation has passed. But at least they haven't just rubberstamped the whims of George Bush as the Republicans did for eight years. When you start looking for jobs, you'll realize what Bush has done for our country! Hello, McDonald's. Hello, Walmart! Goodbye, American Dream!

George C is right. And it's not the senate and congress. The senate is part of the congress. It has two parts-- the Senate and the House of Representatives. Congress is the Legislative Branch of the government, one of the three branches.

The American people are asleep at the wheel. While they sent more democrats to Congress, the all time rating is about 18%.
Congress wont take on the issues like taxes, tax breaks, immigration or social security. If congress were to get serious, then, their so called plan could have holes poked in it once its out, so, they keep talking loud, but doing nothing.
We the People, need to build a fire under them, or fire them and get a new set of people in there and maybe, just maybe they will do something for us, the working people who support this country.
See, congress produces nothing, but spends more money than it takes in. You cant run a business like that.

The passed a raise of the minimum wage and lowered student loan interest rates. They've also made the process by which lobbyists donate and give to congressmembers more transparent.
The last congress passed a discriminatory bankruptcy law that rewards creditors.
They pass tons of legislation. You have to be a political scientist or lawyer to really understand what it is that they do.

Not much--the long term senators and congressmen/women hopefully will retire soon--We will be obligated to pay for that retirement along with their spouse as well, remember that little fact--do your own research to find out more. It took forever to pass the minimum wage bill, which was long overdue.....

About 60 bills passed in 2006 and about 69 so far in 2007.
You can read the bills and the associated debate with testimony on the attached.

Yeah!
They passed the minimum wage bill.
By the way they did not have to vote to pass their pay raise it is automatic if they don't vote to stop it.
The less they do now the more it saves us taxpayers (for them to take from us later).

If you're asking I am guessing "no". Their other job is to not raise minimum wage since like 1974.
