I know what you mean - I am approaching 30 in a few weeks and do wonder sometimes.
What my partner and I have decided to do though is set some ambitions that we definately want to do over the coming years. After being ill for some time I have taken a new perspective on life. It is too short so I want to make the most of it.
Ultimately I am looking forward to having kids and watching them develop. Then there are grandchildren. Growing old together with your partner and seeing new things in the world like traveling to see different cultures.
As most people point out here, it is what YOU make of life as to whether or not it is on the decline or not.
Good luck

Difficult to say, unless you have a crystal ball. I have had the most brilliant life so far, really varied and very up and down. I suppose it depends upon your expectations of what "best part" is. I've had loads of best parts and hopefully there will be many more but whether or not they are better "best parts" than the ones I've already had, I won't know until I have them but it's self perpetuating because there may still be better ones to come, if that makes sense. x

Well i dont think so ...

Life is a journey and the journey as interesting and adventurous as the destination. - have you enjoyed the journey?

Life is just a chance to grow a soul. Do you feel you have grown?

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Is there?

HOW HAVE YOU LIVED? How is one to live a moral and compassionate existence when one is fully aware of the blood, the horror inherent in life, when one finds darkness not only in one's culture but within oneself? If there is a stage at which an individual life becomes truly adult, it must be when one grasps the irony in its unfolding and accepts responsibility for a life lived in the midst of such paradox. One must live in the middle of contradiction, because if all contradiction were eliminated at once life would collapse. There are simply no answers to some of the great pressing questions. You continue to live them out, making your life a worthy expression of leaning into the light.

YOU HAVE LIVED LIFE? Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].

Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.

With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.

Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.

This has been my life; I found it worth living.

ADVENTURE: Now there is one outstandingly important fact regarding Spaceship Earth, and that is that no instruction book came with it.

DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE LIVED? If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.

Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.

Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep. Has it made you weep? Have you sunken deeper into life?

Life is so constructed that an event does not, cannot, will not, match the expectation. Thats the drama!!

Last but not the least --

My candle burns at both its ends;
It will not last the night;
But oh, my foes, and oh, my friends --
It gives a lovely light.

I feel my life has yet to begin even though i am getting on but not quite a pensioner.Hopefully all the best bits are around the corner before it's too late.What i find is that my life is quite boring and good bits of my life seem like a distant memory.I always live in anticipation that something exciting is about to happen.Hope i'm not waiting in vain.

no, there is always something unexpected around the next corner, usually you are in a 'holding pattern' being prepared for it. So do look up and forward life is preparing you for the best yet to come.
the best, yet to come, will be different from what you experienced before because you will, hopefully, be maturer and in a different place emotionally, relationshipwise, jobwise, etc. Be prepared for change ahead, walk through open doors and dont push too hard against those which seem closed. God bless

I am grateful to have found a loving husband after 40 years.... tho I am sure that I will get several thumbsdown for my next part of this question.I do believe that one day if we have done ouur part inlife and lead a good life that we will have a much greater reward than the polution that we have been subjected to live here in.

Today is the "good old days" of tomorrow. Your "good old days" of a few years ago were probably not as good as you perceive them to be now. At the time, you probably did not think "these are the best days of my life."

The beauty of life is that it can twist and change for better or for worse in an instant. It is infinitely more interesting because of that fact.

Since you asked his question in the philosophy section, I am going to give you a philosophical point of view.

All of life is good, even the negative times.
When a person is on high and everything is going well for them, that is a wonderful thing. But when negative things happen, that is a pointer to show us where we have to
improve in our life and in our daily situations. This will only strengthen us and make us a better person inside and out.

So you see...all of life is good.

No. I don't think I'll ever know the best part of my life till I'm chillin in Heaven and lookin back on it all. Life is so unpredictable and something I wouldn't expect to be "the best" might just end up being "the best".
