Possible.
It seems unlikely, but you have to wonder why there are so many anomalies and unanswered questions that the 9/11 Commission ignored.
The various timelines described by the key government players are full of contradictions and impossibilities.
It seems most likely to me that the government had advance knowledge of the attacks, but chose, at the highest level, to let them proceed, because they needed a justification for launching war in the Middle East.
The attacks turned out to be much worse than they had anticipated, so it became much more important to cover-up the fact that they knew of them in advance.

Consider this scenario. The world trade towers have been attacked, and fallen down. There are 2 more airplanes who are not on track nor making any radio communication. 2 hours later one of these airplanes is flying over washington DC, the most secure sector in the US airspace! What does washington do when the air force informs them? There is no question in my mind they told the air force to STAND DOWN, IT IS NOT A THREAT. WTF? There was all the time in the world to take care of that plane and NOTHING was done. There is no reason for this PERIOD (unless A there was no plane and it was a cruise missile, or B it was self inflicted wound)
BTW the government doesn't control this country, the banks do (and maybe a few big corporations), meaning this current administration is too dumb to conduct 9/11 but there's a much smarter group of individuals who can.

look at it this way, 911 is a pre-text for everything. War, passing unconstitutional legislation, come on wake up! This post 911 era is just used to fear monger and let the people submit to whatever the govt wants to do. Problem-reaction-solution. Do some research for yourselves, educate yourselves, don't believe until you see for yourself. And stop watching the brain washing, mind control propaganda news.

Of course not. If it was, it would have failed. Bush can't do anything right. If he had put the 9/11 attacks into motion, the World Trade Center would still stand today. (Of course, it dould also still be standing if he'd read Condi Rice's memo! Or if another 538 people in Florida had some more sense!)

While the government of Afghanistan did provide aid and shelter for Bin Ladin, I doubt they did anything to help set up 9/11

Everything about 911 is highly suspicious. We need new independent commission to investigate it again.

CIA's too incompetent to do this sort of stuff. Do the Keystone Kops run foreign intelligence?
Much as I hate to admit it publicly, I think Karl Rove never thought of it. But he certainly took full advantage of it to further his agenda.

Not "set-up" but the warnings were ignored. Very similar, the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many warning, but the arrogance determined that an attack on this country was impossible.

No, but I've heard that the Clinton administration was warned about it and knew it was going to happen and yet they did nothing to try to stop it and the Bush administration ended up taking the blame for it.
