Safe from what?
Independence, Justice, Truth? Yeah... I'm thinkin' we're safe from them things all right.
If you were asking if we are safe from Terror, I’d have to say no… The Shrub & his boys have something up their sleeve, I can feel it in the air.
Lets call it a “gut feeling”

We are still safer than most places in the world. Safe is an unreal proposition. It is an attempt to deny a basic fact of life, that we die. If you look at the numbers of accidental and premature death from all quarters, America is just about as safe as you can get, along with other privileged places, like Japan and the Netherlands. Although it is nice to feel safe, it is not something politicians can deliver. The paranoia that followed September 11 was nothing but a cynical political device used to justify certain policies.
Six years after 9/11, it is more than time to get sane again.

I fear my own post-9/11 government more than I ever feared any terrorists. I'd rather be killed by a fanatic than be "disappeared" by the United States government. Things that have happened in this country - under this administration - over the past 6 years are the kinds of things that are not supposed to happen in America. Oh, well, I guess I wasn't using my civil liberties anyways.

The fact that we had no attacks since 911 is not an indication we are safer. This type of logic was found to be false in the shuttle disaster and was pointed out by one of the great physists of our time Richard Feynman. The engineers knew that there was a problem with the seals before the Challenger shuttle disaster but since no problems occured before then they used that as evidence that it was safe. When Feynman was put on the Challenger committee to investigate the disaster, he was astounded that the NASA administrators used this false logic.

Have we been attacked since then? It seems like our government has done a pretty good job of protecting us considering millions of muslims want americans dead and all others who won't convert to Islam.
I haven't given up any "freedom" in the process, by the way. This argument of everyone losing freedoms is so overplayed by now. I have yet to see one person on here give an example of a freedom that he/she has lost.
Mamacat, they have to search little old ladies in wheelchairs, otherwise the ACLU will file a lawsuit on behalf of all people who look like the 19 that highjacked our airplanes on 9/11. This is what all the civil right activists cause. when you see an old lady getting searched or a baby stroller being searched, you can thank the ACLU for it.

Not 100 percent, but a lot safer since we are at war with the terrorists in their back yard. This is obviously hard for Congress to see or understand.

Whether you think we're safe or not, there havn't been any attacks on US soil since 09/11/01. If anything, we are a LOT more vigilant about terrorist attacks and MANY have been thwarted. So are we safer? Definitely. Are we as safe as we should be? Who's to say? Liberals insist that we're not any safer today than we were before 911, then oppose things like the Patriot Act and insist that wiretapping terrorist suspects is unconstitutional. So if you don't believe that we ARE safer, I would love to hear your suggestions that don't violate civil liberties.

Most of us are on our toes.
I'd feel a little more safe if other citizens didn't have the belief that we caused 9/11, or because we are fighting back, it's getting worse.
I think those "patriots" just encourage more.

If we are we really can't give credit to the Bush man. Anyone that would be in office will have programs for security. I'll miss the fear part though, it keeps me on my toes.

Heck no, we have open borders anyone can come in. When you are checking in at the airport they are searching elderly people in wheelchairs or women who are picking up their child (It happened to me) or when people see other people taking pictures of ferry's they just stand back and ignore.
