Hi I have a gateway, that has a 17" flat screen lcd moniter. What should my resolution be at? How many pixels? And why does it keep sayen auto processing everytime I log on? It's very annoying. Thanks.

For a 17" non-widescreen monitor set the resolution to 1280 by 1024.

If text is too small then change the DPI setting in the Display Properties, or use Ctrl + to change the font size in a window.

The auto processing message comes up because the monitor is trying to optimise itself to the resolution that you are using. It should not have to do this every time, just when it sees a resolution/refresh rate it does not recognise. I guess it is a 'feature' of the Gateway monitor.

You can see your resolution by closing all open windows, right-clicking on the background, hit the Properties menu item, and the Settings tab of the resulting window. You'll see a slider in a box labeled 'Screen resolution'. Adjust that to the right as far as it goes, and see what happens. Actual max resolution is a function both of the graphics adapter and the monitor.
