And it's gradually getting worse there too? I get the impression, that many people think, that the two wars are actually one and the same.

Afghanistan? What's that? OH YEAH......that place we sent US special forces within a month of the 911 attacks to root out the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Oh yeah! Now I remember! (sarcastic)

Funny when people point out that Iraq had nothing to do with 911, I often agree. Then remind them that this is exactly why we sent US forces to Afghanistan 18 months earlier. The thing with Afghanistan though is that there is nothing to be gained there except justice. If they had a drop of oil, liberals would be crying that we're there because of oil too.

I realize that.Afghans are desperate. The Taliban is back strong and willing to fight. If NATO forces were to leave the Taliban would take over.
The Taliban are at its strongest since they were driven from power.Ordinary Afghans live in fear the West will leave and they will be under Taliban rule again which prevents them from really choosing sides and embracing Democracy.

Afghanistan? Oh yeah... the place that the "War on Terror" should have started and ended!

Now we're looking to Iran... don't that just figure?

The job isn't finished in Afghanistan. We've declared victory in Iraq already so we should just leave the Iraqis to fend for themselves.

You need to give examples on how Afghanistan is "getting worse" and provide backup for this conclusion. Where are you getting your information, from Katie Couric?
